This is about Nissan Sentra and some of its history. In the United States, in 1982, the export name foe the Nissan Sentra was the Nissan Sunny. In most of North and South America, they see the Sunny as the Sentra.
In 1982, the first version of the Nissan Sentra was supposed to replace the Datsun 210. The 1982 Nissan Sentra came with front wheel drive. The engine in this version was an E15 SOHC engine.
They changed the engine to an E16 in 1983. The 1983 Sentras had an automatic transmission that came with 3 speeds and a manual transmission that came with 4 speeds. Between 1984 and 1986, you could a Nissan Sentra with a CD17 diesel engine.
Between 1982 and 1986, most models marketed the Sentra as the Nissan Sunny. You could get these models with 1.3 and 1.5 petrol engines. You could version of this car with five doors.
From 19887 to 1990, you could buy a Sentra as a station wagon, a sedan with 2 doors, a sedan with 4 doors, a hatchback with 3 doors and a sports coupe. IN 1987, most Sentras except the sports coupe had E16 engines with hp of 69 and a manual transmission that came in 4 speeds.
All 1988 Sentras had an E16 engine with 70 horsepower. The only other engine choice for a Sentra from 1987 to 1990 was a GA161 engine with hp of 90. The 1987 to 1990 version had 4 wheel independent suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes.
Between 1987 and 1990, the Sentra model classes were E for economy, XE for the base model and SE for luxury version. The SE version had two mirrors, air conditioning, power door locks and power windows.
Between 1987 and 1990, the GXE model class was introduced and could come with options such as variable wipers.
Between 1991 to 1994, the Nissan Sentra started to have the SR20DE engine. This engine could from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in seven point four seconds. It could do a quarter of a mile in 15.7 seconds. The 1991 to 1994 Sentra version could come with 4 wheel disc brakes and an independent suspension that was called Macpherson strut.
